We would have not started Freedom Exteriors if we had not been able attract the highest skilled people to work with us. We knew what materials we would use and the installation protocol that we would follow. But, our company would be more than that. It would be caring, experienced, principled people doing the right thing even when no one knew. People having the integrity to speak up, giving our clients the information they needed. That is what we had to have before we began and I believe this has been our greatest success.
How to avoid making a mistake in choosing a roofer
Having your roof replaced doesn’t have to be difficult if you ask the correct questions and check the roofing company out. The following are a few questions that you should ask before choosing a roofing company.
- Do you have a commercial street address and a permanent phone number?
If they only offer a cell phone number or if the address is to a residence, you have to ask if this is a legitimate business.
- Can you show me proof of Worker’s Comp insurance and Liability insurance?
Many times you will be told yes only to find it is some type of truck insurance with no relationship to business insurance. Today the company you choose needs to have at least $2,000,000 in liability insurance.
- Do you have referrals?
Important, important, get and check their referrals.
- Are you a member of the Better Business Bureau?
Even if they say they are, check it out anyway.
- Where are some residential or commercial projects you have completed or are now working on that I can look at?
There should be several near your location.
- How long have you been in business?
Although this is not always a good way to know how good they are, it still is a good way to know if they have been successful in the past.
- What is your labor warranty?
You are asking how good they are. Remember, any roof can be kept from leaking a year. Caulk and sealers can do this; the question is why they aren’t confident in their work?
- Do you have manufacturer’s training and credentials?
It cost a company money to go for factory training. Still, they should be willing to be up to date with roofing materials, installation training, and stay current with energy efficiency and green solutions.
